The Legend of Ken Schultz
Every legend has an origin. Ken's begins in Mentor, Ohio, where a young boy watched his uncle — a research mead chemist — transform simple juice into something extraordinary. That spark of fascination never left him.
By eighth grade, Ken was already deep enough in his obsession to make fermentation the subject of his science project. He wasn't just interested in wine. He was destined to make it.
In 1975, Ken began crafting wine as a hobby, drawing on the native grape varieties of the Great Lakes region he called home. Four years later, he and his wife Lisa packed up their lives and headed west to Montana — where they lived in a tipi while building their home by hand.
No modern conveniences. No shortcuts. Just Ken, Lisa, and a wine cellar dug beneath the tipi floor — because nothing was going to stop him from making wine.
That same spirit lives in every bottle of Hidden Legend today.
